Caring for Your Flowers

We want your flowers to last as long as possible — and with just a little care, they will!

Step-by-Step Flower Care

1. Give Them a Fresh Start
As soon as you get your flowers home, unwrap them and trim the stems at an angle (about ½ inch) before placing them in clean, cool water. This helps them drink up more easily after their trip from the farm.

2. Use a Clean Vase
Give your vase a quick wash with warm, soapy water before filling it with fresh, cool water. Clean water = happy blooms.

3. Keep It Cool
Flowers prefer cooler temperatures — ideally 60–70°F. Avoid placing them near heat sources, direct sunlight, or drafts. A cozy spot out of the sun will keep them fresh longer.

4. Change the Water Often
Change the vase water every day or two and re-trim the stems each time. This keeps bacteria from building up and ensures your flowers can stay hydrated.

5. Avoid the Hot Car Trap
If you’re transporting flowers, treat them like ice cream on a summer day — don’t leave them in a hot car or sitting in the sun. Bring them inside as soon as you can!

6. Watch for Thirsty Blooms
If a flower starts to wilt, re-cut the stem and place it in fresh water right away. Many will perk right back up once they get a good drink.

A Few Extra Tips from the Farm

  • Remove any leaves that sit below the water line to prevent bacterial growth.

  • Keep your bouquet away from ripening fruit — ethylene gas from fruit speeds up wilting.

  • Mixed bouquets have different lifespans; remove spent blooms to let the others shine longer.

  • Enjoy the natural rhythm — some flowers open quickly, others take their time. Every stage is part of their charm.
